Blue Light

Healthy blue light plays a role in a number of important biological functions like regulating your biological clock (your sleep/wake cycle) and helps influence functions in the human brain like alertness, memory, emotion, and cognitive performance. Plus, certain wavelengths of blue light have been used as an effective light therapy treatment for people across the age spectrum.
Since it helps to govern the sleep cycle, exposure to blue light at inopportune times, can also help disrupt the body’s circadian rhythm (biological clock), making it more difficult to get to sleep at night.
Another specific band of blue light, high-energy blue-violet light, has also been found to be a risk factor for the development of age-related macular degeneration (causes deterioration of the part of the retina that is responsible for sharp, central vision) and cause significant damage to retinal cells.
The LED screens that power many of our mobile devices and computers are frequently a primary culprit when it comes to emitting harmful blue light, and disrupting sleep cycles, which is where Crizal Prevencia Lenses come into play.
